How do I fix my sleeping pattern?

So I pretty much didn't fall asleep last night due to this book I was dying to finish and now it's 5 in the morning and I don't feel like falling asleep in the afternoon to wake up in the middle of the night. I heard that fasting for 12-16 hours would work, but it seemed to only be effective when trying to wake up at a certain time. If this does work, would it also work for trying to fall asleep at a certain time? Please let me know ASAP as I dont want to sleep away my summer days!!!!
